9/2/2023 0 Comments Dell fan control laptop![]() ![]() Starting in 2021 (Tiger Lake systems) they removed the old interface that HWiNFO and other tools that can deal with Dell fans were using, so WMI is the only way to go now that I am aware of. ![]() I think any Dell system from 2018+ (maybe older), desktops included, supports the same WMI interface for reading the fan speeds. I did a lot of slinking around Dell's libsmbios C code (for Linux SMBIOS support), a lot of BIOS token/variable dumps, and some reverse-engineered Dell Power Manager code to figure this out. I am author of Dell Fan Management and I would be happy to pass along any information to help with this implementation. I've updated all drivers and installed all updates on Windows Update.Hi I just noticed this thread. I can open Task Manager -> Processes and watch all the start-up processes raise the CPU load and the fans will speed up to the expected level.Īt 1 minutes and 54 seconds, a process called "Dell Instrumentation" will start using about 27% of the CPU and the fans will speed up to full and stay there, even after this dell instrumentation process goes down to 0% about 10 seconds later. When I boot up, the fans are running normally at first. ![]() ![]() When I shut down, the fans stay spinning at full speed right under the laptop powers off, where they immediately stop. Using Open Hardware Monitor, I can see the 4 CPU cores are at 43 - 53 degrees C, so this isn't due to overheating. I have the laptop set to use the integrated GPU instead of the dedicated GPU so the GPU is usually a 0% usage. I have an Alienware 14 laptop that I use mainly for web browsing that developed an issue a couple of days ago where the fan would be spinning at full speed regardless of how much load the CPU was under. ![]() ![]() ![]() If Microsoft Office 2021, 2019, 2016 or 2013 came preinstalled on your computer when you purchased it, your Product Key should be printed on the holographic sticker attached to your computer.īe sure you use the Microsoft Office 2021, 2019, 2016 or 2013 Product Key and not the Windows Product Key that's probably also on that sticker. If you purchased one of these versions of Office from Microsoft online, your Product Key is stored in your Microsoft account online (more on that below) and/or arrived in your email receipt. If you purchased Microsoft Office 2021, 2019, 2016 or 2013 in a box with a disc, or as a product card (digital download) from a retail store, then your Product Key will be with that physical purchase - on the product card, on a sticker, on or in the manual, or on the disc sleeve. Important: The following should work if you're just looking for the Product Key for one member of an Office 2021, 2019, 20 suite, like Word or Excel, as well as if you're after the key for an entire suite, like Office Home & Student, Office Home & Business, or Office Professional in 2021, 2019, 2016 or 2013 versions. Unfortunately, Microsoft changed how they handled Microsoft Office Product Keys beginning with Office 2013, storing only part of the Product Key on your local computer. ![]() If you're familiar with Product Keys and how they work, you might assume that the Microsoft Office 2021, 2019, 20 Product Key is stored, encrypted, in the Windows Registry, like older versions of Office and most other programs do. So what do you do if you need to reinstall the program but you've lost this important, 25-digit installation code? You've probably already tried all the expected "looking around" but there are a few more things you can try that you may not have known about. ![]() Microsoft Office 2021, 2019, 20, like all versions of Office and most other programs you pay for, requires that you enter a unique Product Key during the installation process, proving, to a point, that you own the software. ![]() |
